PART 3 RESEARCH AND PRACTICE: Exercise 3.1 Mind maps, colour palettes and theme boards

This exercise was all about colour, an area I used to struggle in but have begun to blossom in. I have become more confident in my use of photopea using it to create my colour palettes and mood boards. I found this meant the colour palette created were more accurate and sped up the creation of these palettes.

Creating an extensive mind map to inspire my mood boards. Using it to focus on the key areas of personal experience I would like to explore. A key area that came up were family days out, such things as the farm, park and other adventures.

My first mood board is in response to one of many visits to the park with my daughter, including my own images with a selection of images from Pinterest, to find textures, materials, to compliment the theme. Using Photopea to pull key colours from my images to create a vibrant primary colour palette.

My next came after a visit to the Hornaman museum, wandering through their butterfly house looking at the wonderful patterns and colours. Combined with the joy felt of a family day out. Creating a slightly muted colour palette compared to the park mood board. But a vision of silky, soft, patterns, in contrast to the parks, playful, vivid and textured board.
