PART 4 PERSONAL RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: Part 4 Reflection

Demonstration of technical and visual skills: Materials, techniques,

observational skills, visual awareness, design and compositional skills. 40%

I am exploring colour more confidently, looking at vibrant colour combinations to continue with the joyful, playful theme. I am also more visually aware of placement while remaining coherent within the chosen theme.

Unit 4 has been more about analysing my previous work or other practitioners' work, a skill that was not one of my strongest areas. I often feel reluctant to do the work for fear of not doing it correctly. I have had to push through this fear and, in doing so, began to enjoy writing my critical. I was reviewing my work in a logical, critical manner.

Quality of outcome: Content, application of knowledge, presentation of

work in a coherent manner, discernment, conceptualisation of thoughts

and communication of ideas. 20%

I have learnt to become more critical of my work and aware of ways to alter the composition or placement to improve the outcome of my work. I think about the theme and develop my working practice to keep within the theme and follow through with each development. I am learning to refine my work through critical analysis.

Demonstration of creativity: Imagination, experimentation, invention,

development of a personal voice. 20%

I continue to develop my personal voice, knowing what I like and dislike and being able to explain my thoughts. I am confident in developing ideas with creativity whilst questioning the process. For example, I used the golden rule when capturing my weaving sample with pastels, demonstrating how I could use it in my own way.

Context: Reflection, research and critical thinking. 20%

This unit's key learning objectives were reflection, research and critical thinking. I reflected on previous work and the research I have conducted on other practitioners, which has affected my working practice.

It's been interesting reflecting on my work and looking through some of it from ATV. It is interesting to see how far my working practice has developed and how the research, techniques, and use of a more critical way of thinking have developed my working practice.
