I have explored weaving in my previous work, I was excited to explore it further. Reminding myself of my theme I began collecting my materials.

I felt my work went off in two different directions the nature theme and colourful playful theme.

Using a mixture of traditional and untraditional materials, as well as exploring 3D weaving which is a new technique for me.

Using Pinterest as part of my inspiration for my samples, gathering a selection of images I thought would inspire my work. I also took inspiration from Judith Scott’s work; her work has inspired my work throughout my degree. Her use of mixed materials, which seemingly have no relevance but must do to her, for her to use the items and incorporate them into her work.

Like my weaved piece incorporating fun paper straws, which was inspired by children’s parties. I used electrical tape but on reflection I wish I had used napkins or party bags to weave with.

I particularly enjoyed making the daisy and dandelion sample, taking my daughter out to pick them together and gather twigs for my other nature inspired sample. Sitting together to create the lengths of daisy chains. This is what this theme was all about, the family time and happy memories.
